Spotted! Samantha Ong [Proud Of You Girl!]
21-year-old Samantha Ong, graduated with a Diploma in Visual Communication from Temasek Polytechnic in 2008. She designs for passion, enjoys corporate identity and branding and loves photography. “I seek inspiration from daily life, objects, architecture and even nature,” she adds. “I am constantly upgrading myself and I am a perfectionist in everything I do.”
For her final year project, Samantha worked closely with the National Parks Board (NParks) on a brand identity for the Park Connector Network (PCN), which included a logo, brochures, banners and environmental signage.
“The challenge was to create a cohesive, memorable and versatile identity for the NParks Park Connector Network (PCN), which would create excitement among Singaporeans,” Samantha explains. “Keeping in mind the objective to bring people closer to nature, I came up with the concept to convey connectivity and completeness throughout the green network. The four individual brochures represent the four regions (North, South, East, West). When they are put together, they form the map of Singapore.”
Samantha’s PCN work clinched second prize at the 2008 International Design Awards (IDA) in Los Angeles. Back home, the brochure for the completed 42km eastern loop of the PCN was launched last year.

Q: We've heard reports about your back injury, and there were worries that you might give the showcase here a miss. How serious is it now?
It's still manageable, I've gone to the doctors to let them have a look. There was a while when I couldn't really sit or stand, even breathing felt painful you know that kind of feeling? Now I'm still using traditional chinese medicine to treat it and it seems to be getting better.
Everyone need not be too worried, I'll still be dancing at my shows, and I'll just slow down when it gets painful again.
Q: Sounds bad. So because of your injury, you've recently held small-scale showcases instead of the usual concerts. Have they been a very un-Jolin activity?
Yea it's definitely different, but I quite enjoyed them. Meeting the fans in a small joint with a live band, I felt like I was back to my schooling days. It was very relaxing.
Q: In the MTV for the dance anthem 'Flower Butterfly', you did ballet pirouettes, which is extremely difficult for even a seasoned ballet dancer, let alone a ballet novice like yourself. Did you know that it was going to be that tough?
I had no idea, I guess I learnt the hard way. It really requires a lot of work, you have to set considerable time aside every single to practice.
Q: Did you consider giving up?
Oh yes, there were times when I was so frustrated I felt like hitting my dance instructor with a stick (laughs). The pirouettes were the most difficult dance routine I had ever done. But I knew that a lot of people who watch me have done ballet before, so I didn’t want to look bad in front of them. In the end, I just chose to hang on.
Q: Speaking of MTVs, will you watch your performances or change channels immediately if they appear on television?
If I'm about to release a new album, I'll have a look and see what elements I like and or I can retain for my work in future. If I go to the KTV and they pop up then, I'll force my friends to watch and sing!
Q: Very funny. Another one of the album's main plugs is the hip-hop number 'Real Man.' To you, what traits should a real man not have?
I can't stand guys who are calculative, sensitive, and too good with words. They should also respect women, and be brave enough to take responsibility when things go wrong, not shove the blame to anyone else.
Q: Do you hope there will be a special someone with all these qualities soon?
I've always hoped to have someone like that, not just now. But fate is very unpredictable, sometimes you expect too much from someone or are in too much of a rush to go into a relationship, and it just won't happen. I console myself by saying that it's not really a problem. Actually though, of course it is. (laughs)
Q: Say you found someone you love and are going to get married. Will you inform the media about it or wait for them to find out on their own?

YES 933 LIVE with Jolin 蔡依林
OMG OMG OMG! I can't believe it that I managed to call in to YES 933FM and post a question for Jolin to answer... So I managed to speak to Jia Fa.. hehe! :)

Ans: actually I like most of it.. this time round can dress up like barbie doll... diff outfits...

3rd Qn: by ME ME ME! freaking happy... whaha :) of all the years in your career, any dreams that you have yet to fulfil?
Ans: she wish to take a vacation.. perhaps half a year or so so that she can rest more and go to places she like...

Jolin 蔡依林 in SINGAPORE [Right Now]
OMG! I can't believe it but Jolin 蔡依林 is in Singapore right now.. haha! and she must be either working or shopping or just relaxing and touring around Singapore.. last time she was here for her album was WU NIANG lor.. ages ago. LOL.. was at Marina Square for her autograph session like 2 years ago.. I still remember that it was TEP period in NYP.. haha! and I applied flexi-leave to leave early to the autograph session. whaha! :) anwyay Saturday is the autograph session that I will attending... tomoro the MAX PAVILLION think no hope liao. haiz.. if only can go.. wonder how those people go lorr. haha! :X oh well.. hopefully I will get my album signed on Sat and see her face to face.. goodness.. she's FINALLY HERE! :)

蔡依林連續兩天密集進練團室與樂手老師們彩排今天的『愈慢愈美麗』慢歌演唱會中的10首曲目，Jolin笑稱：「練團的速度比練舞的速度真的快很多耶！」 加上所有演唱的歌曲都是Jolin自己喜歡的歌曲，在練團室唱到欲罷不能，絲毫沒有要休息的意思，直到樂手老師受不了，再也憋不住，直接問Jolin說： 「我們可不可以休息一下，上個廁所？」Jolin才驚覺自己都沒喘息，但Jolin果真是追求完美，樂手老師都紛紛走出來，她依舊關在練團室哼哼唱唱，詢 問老師說這個音這樣對嗎，這樣唱好聽嗎？讓所有在場的工作人員對她相當佩服！
蔡依林貴為歌壇舞后，卻也同時因為舞藝精湛常讓人忽略的她的歌藝，忘了Jolin也是因為歌唱比賽而進入歌壇，更曾榮獲金曲獎最佳女歌手的殊榮，這回在 『愈慢愈美麗』慢歌演唱會不僅演唱新專輯『花蝴蝶』中的5首抒情歌，另外5首則是她喜歡的歌曲，包括偶像陳奕迅的『好久不見』、好友孫燕姿的『害怕』、梁 詠琪的『偏見』、偶像阿妹的『我恨我愛你』及梁靜茹的『我喜歡』！但經過一連兩天的練團，Jolin說：「我在KTV隨便哼哼唱唱都覺得挺好唱的，可是這 次練團就忍不住驚呼怎麼覺得還真不好唱，因為突然KTV的聽眾變多，要在現場唱給這麼多人聽，加上都是我喜歡的藝人、喜歡的歌曲，壓力大的不輸練舞啦！」
